Lisa Tiano’s Biography

Professional Bio

Lisa Tiano has a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and has worked for over 20 years in clinics, hospitals, and school settings as a School Counselor. She is also the co-author of 101 Girl Tips and co-founder of two parent and teen empowerment organizations, REAL Teen Talk and InnerStarGirl. She has been featured on the KTLA Morning News, is an invited guest for podcasts, serves as a contributing writer for Thrive Global, and writes a monthly column devoted to addressing pre-teen and teenage topics and raising teenagers.

Lisa consults and speaks with parents and teens on academic, social and emotional issues, and helps guide families and children with their transitions to middle school, high school, and college. She empowers her clients to navigate relevant and challenging issues such as school and social pressures, body image and body shaming, bullying, friendship shifting, the hidden aggression in girls, and healthy versus toxic relationships.

During private parent-teen sessions, Lisa provides practical, helpful tips to support healthy parent-child communication and offers resources to guide both parents and teens. She is scheduled as a frequent speaker at school development trainings and freshman seminars and is involved in educating teachers, school staff, and students on creating empathic leadership.

Another important part of Lisa’s work is using the DIR/Floortime model as an intervention for children with Autism and other neurodevelopmental challenges. At NeuroSense Psychology, aside from her offering of individual and group on-site and telehealth sessions; Lisa provides support in natural home and school environments to augment social interactions, to develop connections, to teach play skills, to gain community mastery, independence, and to help manage challenging behaviors observed across settings. She regularly conducts school observations and works with the entire NeuroSense team to ensure that the needs of the whole student or individual are met in the most applicable and generalizable ways possible. Lisa is ultimately dedicated to supporting and promoting the healthy development and education of each client and family served.
