My daughter was initially diagnosed on the autism spectrum by Dr. Beisman and I felt extremely confident and comfortable with the comprehensive testing and evaluation that led to the diagnosis. I interviewed several professionals to evaluate my two sons and none of them, though highly recommended, held a candle to Dr. Jonine Biesman. She is whip smart, compassionate, flexible, great with kids and parents alike and, frankly, just “gets it.” Although she was booked out for a while and was not geographically close to us, she was well worth the wait and the drive. My son was quite anxious and was an eloper, but Dr. Biesman’s attunement, empathy and kindness made a world of difference in helping him gain comfort and get through the testing process. She allowed plenty of breaks and even let him answer questions while jumping on her couch so that he could regulate his nervous system. She understands that diagnoses are helpful, but imperfect, tools and that the brain, environment, emotions and behaviors are complex and inter-related. She provided a detailed report with a lot of resources, referrals and recommendations for services and accommodations at school, and also participated in calls with the schools. She was always respectful of us as parents as well, neither dumbing down the information nor making it inaccessible. I highly recommend Dr. Jonine Biesman.
